Coron Chronicles: Underwater

By On March 31, 2013
Coron is astonishing underwater as it is above it. I had the chance to snorkel different coral gardens during my Coron tour around different islands.

The coral gardens I got to visit were: Twin Peaks, CYC Coral Garden, Smith Coral Garden, Skeleton Wreck. All of the snorkeling spots I got to visit were great in their own way.

The Mystique of Kayangan lake

The new day was just over the horizon as the sun's finger tips traced the linings of the karst rock formations across the sea. There it was in the near distance, paradise.

When I got the opportunity to book cheap flights to Coron, I couldn't resist and just booked the flights and scoured the Internet for affordable accommodations. The thought of looking at the famous Kayangan Lake landscape made me excited already. But before I got to Kayangan Lake, I made my way to Maquinit Hot Spring and Mt. Tapyas.

Siquijor & Dumaguete Itinerary and Expenses

Salagdoong Beach
The trip to Siquijor and Dumaguete was a good short break from the hustle and bustle of the city. I would definitely revisit these two provinces because I felt that 3 days 2 nights for these two provinces did not do them justice. Here is the breakdown of our expenses during our escapade:

Underwater in Dumaguete

By On March 12, 2013
We had half a day in Dumaguete before our flight back to Manila. My friends and I initially planned to go to Apo Island but when we got to the port we just missed the boat going to Apo Island by a few minutes. We would've made it if not for the mishap with the tricycle driver wherein he passed the turn to Apo Island. After the futile attempt to wait for another boat, we decided to heed the advice of one of the locals who told us to drop by Poblacion 1 (District 1) Marine Sanctuary in Dauin.

There are different kinds of accommodations in Siquijor. Here are the three I was able to inquire and check out:

Salagdoong Beach
There are different beaches that you can go to on the island of Siquijor, one of which is Salagdoong Beach. We went beach hopping during the last stretct of our trip. Salagdoong Beach has clear blue waters and has a natural charm unblemished by loads of tourists. It is a nice secluded beach in the far side of Siquijor.

Tricycle Chronicles: Wandering in Siquijor

By On March 04, 2013

Siquijor is an infamous place of dark magic, aswang, and witch doctors. I heard all of these stories when I was growing up. When I got the chance to travel to this tiny, secluded island I took it and booked a flight to Dumaguete. I knew very little about this place but its mystique piqued my curiosity. After arriving in Dumaguete, my friends and I went directly to the pier to book a boat ticket to Siquijor. The trip took 1 hour and 30 minutes. As soon as we arrived we hired a tricycle to go around the island.
