I had the chance to visit The Golden City of Jaisalmer during my more than a week trip around Rajasthan in India. I had the privilege of staying in Lalgarh Hotel Fort & Palace for two nights.
Review of Lalgarh Hotel Fort & Palace
I was excited to explore The Golden City, but it is a definite plus to return to a cozy and relaxing hotel after a tiring day of exploring the city. Lalgarh Hotel is the ideal place
Lalgarh Hotel is a beautiful building. The yellow sandstone used for the structure blended perfectly with the city's golden hue. The facade was like a haveli of the maharajas in Rajasthan. The intricate carvings and details on the walls of the hotel are a nice touch.
Room
The room's design was just as good as the hotel's facade. The bed was comfy and had thick blankets for the cold nights of Rajasthan. There was a cozy area where you can relax and read. The toilet and bath was clean and the room spacious for two occupants.
What I didn't like about the room was the lack of working plugs. For two occupants, you'll need more than two working sockets (one was used for the TV). Also, there was no hot water it would've been all right, if it was summery weather outside, but if the temperature drops to less than 10 degrees at night that's a problem.
Verdict: 4/5 (I would've given the room a 5 if the sockets worked and if there was hot water)
Facilities
Lalgarh continues its impressive design with a restaurant that has a great view of the Golden City and the fort towering over the city. There's a cozy area where guests can sip hot tea or coffee as they enjoy the view. The rooftop area allows for a romantic evening for couples or guests who want an overlooking view of the city.
Verdict: 4.5/5
Service & Staff
The staff was willing to provide us with the services we needed. They also provided us with information we need regarding tours and the city's nearby attractions.
Verdict: 4/5
Pricing
Lalgarh is a mid-priced hotel in Jaisalmer. There are other cheaper options but what you are paying for is added value. The ambiance and extra comforts of the hotel are worth the extra cost, but it boils down to your budget and how you travel.
