Hotel Review: My Stay in Baro Ato Hotel in Seoul

Towering skyscrapers, glitzy shopping areas, palaces and temples are an eclectic mix that give Seoul a modern yet old soul. Exploring this metropolis is fun but tiring; one will need a place of respite to get ready for a new day of discoveries. During my visit to this vibrant city, I stayed in Baro Ato Hotel.

Rooms

Baro Ato had a distinct exterior and interior, instead of rebelling against the modernization happening around it, it embraces it with its industrial design. The bareness and simplicity of the rooms make it comfy and homey, for me at least. The rooms didn't feel cramped; every decor and placement of furniture was well thought of, making full use of the limited space.

There were rooms for single occupants, couples, friends and families; there is also a dorm room for backpackers. The room I got was comfy, had its own refrigerator, flat screen TV, table, and toilet and bath. It was perfect for someone who was out all day and looking for a comfortable place to rest after exploring the city. Rooms have complimentary water and come with a simple breakfast.

Verdict: 4/5

Facilities

Baro Ato reminded me so much of a hostel, but better

There is a common area on the floor I was on, where guests can eat or use a computer to go online. Seoul is a very wired city, Internet connection is excellent, the hotel was no exception.

For large groups and families, there is a room that has its own mini-kitchen and dining area.

Quench your thirst with these whenever you return to the hotel.

There is a mini-garden at the rooftop where guests can chill.

Verdict: 3.5/5

Pricing

Seoul is a relatively expensive city, but is still cheaper compared to Japan. For the price you pay for the hotel's location and amenities, staying here is a good deal. There are cheaper hostel options, but if you are willing to pay more, Baro Ato is the place for you.

Verdict: 3.5/5

Location

Baro Ato's location is perfect; there are several cafes, restaurants, shops and a shopping mall within 15 minutes by walk. The train station is also walking distance from the hotel. You can also walk all the way to Hongdae to for more options on dining, shopping, bar hopping and entertainment.

Verdict: 5/5

Service

The staff were friendly and easy to talk to when you ask for directions and for whatever you need.

Verdict: 4/5

Would I recommend Baro Ato Hotel in Seoul?

Yes! It provides good value for money for short or long stays in the city. Its accessibility to the train station, restaurants and shopping areas make it an ideal place to stay in.
