Bohol is one of the most famous destinations in the Philippines. It draws tourists because of the Chocolate Hills and its fetching beaches. The island province is also one of the most developed, meaning you'll find plenty of accommodation types regardless of your budget.
Bohol is one of the most popular destinations in the Philippines. The province has plenty to offer visitors such as the famous Chocolate Hills, white sand beaches and other noteworthy attractions.
Here's a travel guide budget and itinerary for Bohol.
The Philippines has many destinations from Luzon to Mindanao that will keep visitors coming back for more. Beaches with fine, bone, white sand and glistening cerulean waters, an underwater ecosystem with colorful corals in various shapes, cities with a mix of eastern and western culture and a mountainous region that has verdant, rolling hills. You have several options when you decide to visit and explore the country.
This is a condensed list of the places you can visit and things you can do while in the Philippines.
I thought I've seen all that I have to see in Bohol, but a recent trip allowed me to discover a destination not well-known to tourists outside of the nearby barangays and towns. Twin Falls was a pleasant surprise during our media tour to this wonderful province in Visayas.
After the devastating earthquake that rocked the province a year ago (2013), Bohol is slowly getting back to its feet. The resorts and establishments I've been to barely have any damage to them. The heritage churches were devastated but the government is doing what it can to restore them. Like most places I've been to, not all experiences are good. One will always come across bad experiences, but it is how we respond to them that matters.
Bohol is known for the Chocolate Hills and the tarsiers, I got the chance to see both during my summer trip to Bohol.
This trip almost didn't push through because of a hazardous arrangement with a tour agent. Thankfully, it was still early enough to visit the tarsier sanctuary and the Chocolate Hills.
Like most island destinations in the Philippines, Bohol has its own version of island hopping. Bohol has its own share of beautiful, white sand beaches and an eclectic and vibrant underwater ecosystem.
I scouted around Alona Beach to get on a tour with other people. Since I was traveling by myself, renting a boat would be too costly. Thankfully, there are numerous tour operators walking around the beach looking for tourists to join their tours. I booked a tour to Balicasag Island, Virgin Island, and Dolphin Watching.
Bohol is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Philippines. This summer (2014) I finally (first time) got the chance to visit this beautiful island in my home country.
