Itinerary & Expenses for Myanmar Trip

Myanmar is one of the places that is still relatively unspoilt by tourism, but I can already see the changes happening and are about to happen.

Here is a breakdown of my itinerary and expenses for my 5 days, 4 nights tip to Myanmar:

54,250 kyats - Hotel accommodations
32,100 kyats - Food & water
3,500 kyats - Entrance fee to Botataung Pagoda
2,000 kyats - Entrance fee to Sule Pagoda
30,000 kyats - Round trip bus Yangon to Bagan
11,000 kyats - Car rental for three places in Yangon
600 kyats - Entrance fee to Karaweik Palace
6,900 - kyats - Transportation
12,000 kyats - Souvenirs
7,000 kyats - Transfer from hotel to bus station in Yangon
3,000 kyats - Internet in Bagan
1,000 kyats - Map of Bagan
15,000 kyats - Zone fee in Bagan
10,000 kyats - Mt. Popa round trip transportation
12,000 kyats - Camera battery charger
27,000 kyats - Horse cart rental from sunrise to sunset in Bagan
3,000 kyats - Postcard and mail
5,000 kyats - Airport transfer from Yangon bus station
235,350 kyats - Total expenses for 5 days and 4 nights in Burma

*Exchange rate of 970 kyats to $1 USD = $244 total expenses

I was only traveling by myself which made a lot of things more expensive. I did a lot of walking to and from places while I was in Yangon to save a little extra. Overall, Myanmar is expensive compared to other Southeast destinations like Vietnam and Thailand. I have met friendly, unfriendly, and opportunistic people while in Myanamr, but I liked the people in general.

  3. Myanmar would be a really unique country to visit and I hope I get to visit this area too. Maybe I'll try to squeeze it in when I'm in Cambodia.

  4. Thank you for sharing this one :) Will bookmark this one for reference. I'm planning to have a family trip next year but I still don't have a clue just yet if we will do out of town or just within the country.

  5. 244$/5 days means 50$ a day. From what i've read on your other posts your journey there was well worth it. So 50$ for such fond memories is really cheap. I hope to read more from your trips in the future.
