My Favorite Destinations in Southeast Asia

By On July 11, 2021

Southeast Asia is the region I was able to travel around in for a month or so. It kick started my wanderlust. I remember my first trip to Bangkok several years ago. My experiences there led me to the conclusion that I wanted to travel as much as possible. Being from the Philippines also made traveling around the region possible and easy (Filipino passport holders don't need a visa to visit countries in Southeast Asia).

Thailand The Wandering Juan

Here's a list of my favorite places in Southeast Asia (excluding my home country the Philippines) in no particular order.

Itinerary and Expenses for Lombok, Indonesia Trip

By On July 24, 2017
It was my second time in Indonesia, and I was looking forward to exploring another part of it. For this trip I decided to visit Lombok, east of Bali. I've heard of the many things to do and places to see on this island, I wrote this post to share my experiences, expenses and itinerary, if ever you plan to visit this part of the country.

Climbing Mt. Rinjani

By On May 26, 2017
I was on the last few days of my trip around Lombok that lasted for a little over two weeks. I was on again and off again about hiking Mt. Rinjani, because I thought that I wasn't prepared enough to do the hike. My experience trekking mountains up to that point were merely day trips to Batangas and one major hike in China. The longest and highest mountain I've been to at the time was Tiger Leaping Gorge (around 2000+++m high) in China, and the only camping experience I had was at Calaguas. The experience in China didn't have camping, I was able to sleep on a bed, use a toilet, have a decent meal and take a shower. Rinjani would be a lot of firsts, the highest mountain and the first time I'd get to camp minus certain comforts. After hearing stories from other travelers and some sweet talking by the travel agent I met, I decided to finally push through with it.

By On December 18, 2016
Indonesia is a diverse country with plenty of things to do and experience. One way to describe this country is think of the Philippines but much bigger. On my second trip to this country I decided to explore another part of it, which was Lombok. I've heard good things about this island, especially it's beaches.

Here's a rundown of the top beaches I've been to on this beautiful island of Lombok.

Chasing Waterfalls in Lombok, Indonesia

By On November 29, 2016
It's been a couple of years since my first trip to Indonesia, I decided to return to explore another part of this beautiful country. For this trip I went to Lombok, a different island which reminded me so much of the provinces back home. This island has plenty to offer visitors who are looking for different kinds of adventure. In one of the days I was there, I decided to chase waterfalls.

Itinerary & Expenses for Indonesia Trip

By On January 08, 2014
I spent two weeks in Indonesia from Jakarta all the way to Bali.

Indonesia is diverse and has plenty to offer visitors who want a unique experience. The island is filled with friendly people and loads of things to do. Like in any country, even home, there are bad people and bad things still happen, but still my experience in Indonesia is something I won't forget.

Eat's Amazing Indonesia

By On January 06, 2014
An adventure to another country would be incomplete without tasting food from the warungs (eateries), street food, and restaurants. The diverseness of East, Central, and West Javanese dishes was an adventure in itself.

The Sun Sets on Uluwatu

By On January 01, 2014
As the days dwindled on my visit to Bali, I watched a Kecak dance and the sunset in Uluwatu Temple.

The temple in Uluwatu stood at a cliff facing the sea.

The Two Faces of Besakih Temple

By On December 30, 2013
I wasn't told what to expect when I planned on visiting Besakih Temple atop Mt. Agung, but I wasn't expecting to get ripped off.

I normally research about the places I plan on visiting, or ask around, before I decide going to them, but as soon as I saw the pictures of Besakih, I told myself I would visit this temple.

Ubud on My Mind

By On December 25, 2013
My trip to Bali would be incomplete without stopping by Ubud. This quaint place in central Bali is serene and artsy.

My first stop during my trip to Ubud was the Sacred Monkey Forest.

The Beaches of Bali

By On December 23, 2013
I have been hearing and reading the hype about Bali's beaches, now I finally got the chance to see if the beaches lived up to the hype.

The Streets of Yogyakarta

By On December 09, 2013
I stayed in Yogyakarta for a week which gave me the opportunity to explore the city and take in its culture, slowly unlike my previous trips wherein I was rushing to get to places. This time around I took my sweet time.

Lesser Known Temples of Yogyakarta

By On December 04, 2013
I couldn't get enough of the temples in Yogyakarta (and I had a lot of free time), I decided to visit the lesser known temples surrounding the city.

The sun was bothering my eyes

A Day at Parangtritis Beach

By On December 02, 2013
After a few days of temple hopping, I was aching to do something else besides seeing ancient temples. I wanted to go to the beaches in Kukup and Krakal, but after asking around I found out that it was difficult to get to those beaches by public transport, so a new friend and I decided to head to Parangtritis instead.

We headed to Giwangan Terminal and waited for the mini-van that went to Parangtritis Beach.

Time Traveling in Candi Prambanan & Sewu

By On November 27, 2013
Prambanan is one of the temples that I was able to cross out of my list during my trip to Yogyakarta. Honestly, I liked Candi Prambanan more than Borobudur.
