Because of a sudden change in flight schedules (Air Asia cancelled their Cagayan de Oro flights after March 31, 2014), I found myself stretching my trip to Mindanao. I decided to include Surigao del Sur to the places I want to visit. The two places on my to visit list was Tinuy-an Falls and Enchanted River.

A trip to Camiguin would be incomplete without visiting White Island, just off the coast of mainland Camiguin.

Nothing but the Beach!

After seeing pictures of Camiguin from numerous fellow travel bloggers, I put Camiguin in my itinerary during my ten day trip to Northern and Eastern Mindanao.

It was the first time I got really sick while traveling it also didn't help that I was traveling by myself. I could barely get out of bed and felt cold even if the air conditioning was off. I could barely move and it was extremely difficult to get out of bed to buy food and medicines. I was in Bukidnon the day before, I didn't have a jacket, it was really cold, and it started to rain, maybe all of these things led to me getting sick. I was in bed for two days and it took multiple doses of C24/7 and meds to get me back on track.

The next destination I had in mind during my almost two weeks in Northern Mindanao, was Bukidnon. Fortunately, there was a shuttle that took passengers to Dahilayan Adventure Park from CDO.

I stayed in Yogyakarta for a week which gave me the opportunity to explore the city and take in its culture, slowly unlike my previous trips wherein I was rushing to get to places. This time around I took my sweet time.

I couldn't get enough of the temples in Yogyakarta (and I had a lot of free time), I decided to visit the lesser known temples surrounding the city.

Laos was the last place on my 10 days, 3 countries trip. This laid back country was the right place to be in to just relax.

Cultural Hall

I was only able to explore Vientiane during my stay in Laos, this laid back city has French cuisine, architecture, serene temples, and friendly people.

The cityscape of Yangon was not only limited to towering Pagodas. There were also remnants of the country's old colonial past, and religious buildings that hinted at the country's multiculturalism. I was aching to explore the streets of Yangon more.

I have only heard stories about Burma. I had only seen its streets, met its people, and experienced its culture through the dreams and words of others. When I applied for a visa, I didn't think that I would be traveling to this secluded country by myself. Like most of my journeys, I decided not to set any expectations for this enigmatic country. I did a little research on the things I needed to know before I entered Burma, but after that I did little else.

I wanted this country to surprise me.

It was the second day of my cruise aboard the Victory Star and I was looking forward to the day's activities.


Halong Bay means 'Descending Dragon bay'. Legend has it that a dragon flew over Vietnam and protected its people from foreign invaders. It spread thousands of jewels into the bay which formed thousands of islets and islands.

The UNESCO Heritage Site, Ha Long Bay, has been on my to visit list since I started to travel. And now, I finally had the chance to set my eyes on this beautiful masterpiece of nature.


I was given the chance to board the Victory Star during my 2 days and 1 night trip around Ha Long Bay. The company covered the transportation from the hotel to the ship and the transfer back to the hotel the next day. After a four hour trip through the countryside, I finally got to board the ship.

It's only been a few months since I've started to wander to different places. I wouldn't call myself a veteran traveler, just a wanderer trying to learn and experience new things. My perspective as a solo traveler is that of a rookie, maybe my perspective will change, maybe it won't after a few more solo trips, but nonetheless traveling solo has given me perspective, and a sense of satisfaction different from traveling with friends and family.
